Additionally, you will visit other heritage sites including the Pashupatinath Temple, which is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, the "Monkey Temple" of Swoyambhunath, which is significant to Buddhists, and the Boudhanath Shrine.

Day 06: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, and trek to Phakding

We aim to arrive in Lukla between 7:00–9:00 am, giving you time to enjoy breakfast before starting a gentle downhill trek on your first day. Trekking to Phakding (2,650m / 8,694ft) will take approximately 3 hours (9km / 5.6 miles). Upon arrival, you will check into your room and have the rest of the day to relax and begin the acclimatisation process.

Day 7: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar

In the first few hours of your journey, you'll cross several iconic suspension bridges while gradually ascending toward the entrance of Sagarmatha National Parkβ€”the official gateway to the Everest Region. After a brief descent, the trail evens out, leading you across mixed terrain before following the river to the final high suspension bridge. From there, you'll take on the challenging ascent of β€˜Namche Hill,’ a climb that can take around two hours, before arriving at the vibrant Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar. Today's trek covers a total distance of 11.3 km (7.02 miles) and typically takes about six hours, with plenty of breaks to rest and take in the breathtaking scenery.

Day 8: Acclimatisation day at Namche Bazaar

Today, we embark on an acclimatisation trek. The trail behind Namche Bazaar is quite steep, and as we ascend 460m (1,509ft) to Shangbouche Airport, you may start to notice the thinner air. After crossing the runway, we continue another 100m (328ft) up to Shangbouche Hill, reaching an elevation of 3,900m (12,795ft). Here, we take a well-deserved break, soaking in breathtaking panoramic views for 30-45 minutes before making our way back to Namche. This trek typically takes around 4 hours to complete, covering a distance of 3km (1.8 miles).

Day 9: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860m)

Today's journey involves a hike to Tengboche at an elevation of 3,860m. After ascending from Namche, the initial 2 hours offer a relaxed walk, traversing the left-hand side of the valley high above the valley floor. The trail then descends towards the river for our lunch stop. Following this, it will take 2 – 3 hours to ascend the long hill to the town of Tengboche. This ascent is gradual but spans a considerable distance, and the total hiking time for the day is approximately 5 to 6 hours, covering a distance of 12km / 7.5 miles.

Day 10: Tengboche to Dingboche (4,400m)

Heading from Tengboche, our journey takes us to Dingboche at an altitude of 4,400m / 14,436ft. The trail initiates with a downhill stretch and then continues with gentle undulations before crossing the river. Gradually, we move uphill towards Pangboche for lunch, a village that endured significant impact from recent earthquakes, usually taking 2 - 3 hours to reach. From Pangboche, the trail involves a gradual uphill trek towards the Imja Valley, offering views of Island Peak, and an hour later, we reach Dingboche. The total trekking time for the day is expected to be 5 to 6 hours, covering a distance of 12km / 7.5 miles.

Day 11: Acclimatisation day in Dingboche

Today, we spend an additional night in Dingboche to aid in the acclimatisation process. Our trek will take us to an elevation of 4,900m (16,076ft), gaining 500m (1,640ft) over a 3km (1.86-mile) route. This acclimatisation hike, lasting approximately three hours, allows us to adapt gradually to the altitude. At the high point, we'll pause for 30–45 minutes to take in the breathtaking views before descending back to Dingboche for lunch and a relaxing afternoon.

Day 12: Dingboche to Lobuche (4,900m) via Kong Ma La Pass

Our next destination from Dingboche is Lobuche, situated at 4,900m. We commence today's trek early in the morning with the goal of reaching the highest point of the entire journey, the Kongma La Pass. There are two route options: we can either take a trail over a hill to the northwest of Chhukung, traversing the Nuptse Glacier moraines, or opt to walk to Bibre and trek on the trail above the Niyang Khola. Cairns and Buddhist prayer flags mark the top of the pass. The final descent from the pass proves to be the most challenging part of today's journey. After ascending the moraine on the far side, the trail turns north through the Khumbu Glacier, guiding us to Lobuche. The total distance covered is 11km / 6.2 miles.

Day 13: Lobuche to Gorakshep - EBC - Gorakshep (5,160m - 5,365m - 5,160m)

Today's trek leads us from Lobuche to Gorakshep at an elevation of 5,160m. The journey is exceptionally beautiful and distinctive, crossing extensive loose rock and glacier moraine. The trail involves approximately 3 hours of ascending and descending into Gorakshep. After having lunch here, we continue for an additional 3 hours to reach Everest Base Camp, where we will spend some time soaking in the atmosphere of the Base Camp of the world's highest mountain! The return hike to Gorakshep is another 2 hours, concluding this challenging day after a total of 7 or 8 hours of hiking. The distance covered today is 10km / 6.2 miles.

Day 14: Hike to Kala Patthar (5,555m). Trek to Dzongla (4,830m)

After a rejuvenating night's sleep in Gorakshep, those feeling ready and able may embark on an early wake-up call to undertake a challenging 3-hour uphill hike to Kala Patthar, offering a stunning sunrise view over Everest. Despite the strenuous effort, the rewarding panoramic views of Everest in the early morning make the endeavour worthwhile. Upon returning to Gorakshep, a hearty breakfast awaits before we commence our descent to Dzongla.

Starting our descent from Gorakshep, we follow a trail alongside the Khumbu Glacier. The trail diverges, and we opt for the path on our right, passing a stupa and tombstones in the distance. As we ascend, the Chola Tsho Lake becomes visible, and further along, we encounter a smaller lake. Crossing the Chola Khola on a bridge, we finally reach Dzongla for an overnight stay. The distance covered today is 12km / 7.5 miles.

Day 15: Dzongla to Gokyo (4,800m) via Cho La Pass (5,368m)

As we ascend, the majestic Cho La Lake comes into view, with the prominent Ama Dablam presiding over a mountain range to the south and Cholatse soaring on the west. The climb becomes challenging as the incline is steep, exacerbated by boulders, requiring some scrambling. The final ascent to Cho La can be a bit tricky, with the trail curving around a crevasse. The pass's summit is adorned with prayer flags and cairns, offering breathtaking scenery of majestic peaks in all directions. Although the descent to Thangnak is long, the trail is not particularly difficult.

Our path leads us to the edge of the Ngozumpa glacier, Nepal's longest glacier. Crossing to the other side, we encounter the second Gokyo Lake among a series of six lakes. A short distance away, the third Gokyo Lake awaits, with the Gokyo Village standing on its edge where we will spend the night. The distance covered today is 12.5km / 9 miles.

Day 16: Gokyo to Marlung (4,210m) via Renjo La Pass (5,360m)

Commencing our day early in the morning, we embark on a trek with a path running alongside Dudh Pokhari (lake) for a stretch. After approximately two hours of walking, we begin the descent towards the Renjo La Pass, treating ourselves to magnificent views of the Himalayan and Rolwaling ranges along the way. The panoramas from the Renjo La Pass mirror those from Gokyo Ri, featuring the third Gokyo Lake and Gokyo Village nestled below the Ngozumpa Glacier. The summit of the pass also offers exceptional views of Mt. Everest.

Proceeding from the pass, our trail descends via a stone staircase and traverses loose scree, leading us to the south bank of Angladumba Tsho Lake. The descent may pose a challenge with icy sections. En route, we encounter Relama Tsho and Renjo Lake, navigating through a narrow valley filled with imposing boulders until we reach Lumde, where a support lodge, though often closed, stands. A further hour of walking takes us to Marlung on the east bank of the Bhote Koshi River. The distance covered today is 11km / 7 miles.

Day 17: Marlung to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

The descent from Marulung to Thame traces a historical route that has been utilised for centuries by Tibetan traders. Crossing the Bhote Koshi River, we descend to Taranga. The trail continues its descent, crossing two bridges en route to Thame. Dominating the Thame landscape is its renowned Gompa perched on a hill to the west. Proceeding from here, we gradually descend along a trail that traverses several small villages before reaching Namche Bazaar, likely the largest town in the Everest region. The distance covered today is 15km / 9 miles.

Day 18: Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,652m)

This challenging day might be among the most demanding, given the fatigue from the preceding trek. The journey begins with the descent down Namche Hill, followed by an extended stretch back to Lukla. Passing through Phakding, the final uphill stretch into Lukla awaits, where we will spend one more night. Expect today's trek to consume 7 to 8 hours, covering a distance of 21km / 13 miles.

Day 19: Fly back to Kathmandu (1,300m). 35 min flight

Today, your legs enjoy a respite as the trek involves only a stroll to Lukla Airport before taking a short 10-minute flight back to Kathmandu.

In the evening, we will savour dinner at one of the authentic Nepali restaurants.

Safari

Day 20: Drive to Chitwan National Park (165 Km / 5 hrs)

Today, we start our day with an early morning breakfast before embarking on a scenic drive to Chitwan, which is situated approximately 165 kilometers away from Kathmandu. Our journey leads us along a winding road that follows the banks of the Trishuli River.

Upon our arrival and check-in at the hotel, a comprehensive briefing awaits us. During this session, we will receive information about the exciting activities that will fill our days in Chitwan.

Following the briefing, we embark on a captivating village tour, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the local culture. We then visit the serene banks of the Rapti River, where we can relish the sunset amidst the lush sub-tropical jungles of Chitwan.

As night descends, we indulge in a delicious dinner complemented by a captivating cultural performance that showcases the unique tribal dances indigenous to the Chitwan region of Nepal.

Day 21: Chitwan Jungle Safari

Following our morning meal, we embark on an adventure through the lush jungles, where we kick off with a serene canoe journey down the Rapti River. As we navigate the river's gentle currents, we might have the privilege of observing Gharial and Mugger crocodiles up close, as well as catching glimpses of playful freshwater dolphins, otters, and an array of waterfowl. Alternatively, we can opt for bird watching or serene nature walks, allowing us to get up close to the diverse flora and fauna that call this park home.

After our tranquil canoe ride, we make our way to the elephant breeding center, where we can learn more about these majestic creatures and their conservation efforts. Upon returning to our hotel, we savor a well-deserved lunch and enjoy some leisure time to rest and rejuvenate.

In the afternoon, we embark on an exciting jungle safari, and here, we have a choice of two options: either on the back of an elephant or in a sturdy jeep. This safari offers us the opportunity to spot some of the park's most iconic wildlife, including the elusive one-horned rhinoceros, the regal Bengal tiger, bears, deer, and a multitude of other fascinating creatures, reptiles, and bird species.

Day 22: Drive from Chitwan to Kathmandu

Start the morning with a bird-watching experience in Chitwan National Park, home to an impressive range of resident and migratory species. After breakfast, we begin our drive back to Kathmandu.
