Everest Base Camp Trek

Arrival

After passing through Immigration and collecting your luggage at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, please keep an eye out for your designated driver from Team Mount Everest. Your driver will be holding a sign with your name on it and will transfer you to Hotel Buddy in Kathmandu for an overnight stay with breakfast included.

Briefing

Your guide will meet you at approximately 6:00 PM (depending on your flight schedule) to conduct a pre-climb briefing. During this briefing, you will have the opportunity to discuss any questions you may have and review the details of tomorrow's trek.

Trek

 Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche and trek to Sing Gompa (3330m)

After having breakfast, you will travel by vehicle to Dhunche (1960m), which takes approximately six hours by road. From there, you will begin your trek towards Gosainkunda Lake, passing through enchanting forests and beautiful villages on the way. This journey presents breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. You will spend the night at Sing Gompa (3330m).

Day 02: Sing Gompa to Gosainkunda Lake 

Following breakfast, you will resume your trek towards Gosainkunda Lake (4380m). The trail gradually ascends through forests of rhododendron and oak trees, providing magnificent vistas of the Langtang range. After trekking for around 3-4 hours, depending on your pace, you will arrive at the sacred Gosainkunda Lake. This lake is highly revered by both Hindus and Buddhists, and it is encompassed by snow-capped mountains. The lake's crystal-clear water reflects the mesmerising scenery. Your overnight stay will be at Gosainkunda Lake.

Day 03: Summit Surya Peak and fly by helicopter to Kathmandu

The hike to summit Surya Peak is a challenging and exhilarating experience. You will start early in the morning from Gosinkunda Lake and make your way up the mountain. As you climb higher, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. The summit of Surya Peak offers a panoramic vista of the Himalayas, including the Langtang and Annapurna ranges.

After reaching the summit, you will make your way back down to base camp. From there, you will take a helicopter ride to Kathmandu. The helicopter journey provides a unique and stunning perspective of the mountain landscapes and is a fitting end to this unforgettable adventure.

Day 04: Sightseeing in Kathmandu 

Upon finishing breakfast, your local guide will meet you and accompany you to Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to numerous historical and cultural monuments. Additionally, you will visit other heritage sites including the Pashupatinath Temple, which is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, the "Monkey Temple" of Swoyambhunath, which is significant to Buddhists, and the Boudhanath Shrine.

Day 05: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla, and trek to Namche Bazaar 

We plan to leave the hotel early, even before breakfast, in order to arrive in Lukla between 7:00 and 9:00 am, subject to weather and flight conditions. After arriving in Lukla, we will enjoy breakfast before beginning a gentle downhill hike to Phakding, which should take around three hours and lead us to an altitude of 2652 meters. We will pause for lunch in Phakding before continuing our journey to Namche Bazaar. As today will be a long day, please keep your head torch nearby. However, please note that you will be acclimated to the high altitude at this point.

Day 06: Namche Bazaar to Deboche/ Pangboche 

The trek from Namche Bazaar to Deboche/Pangboche presents a delightful and picturesque route, showcasing the breathtaking beauty of the Himalayan terrain. The path meanders through verdant woods of rhododendrons and conifers, offering occasional glimpses of the snow-clad mountain ranges in the distance.

While trekking, you'll come across charming alpine hamlets and observe traditional Sherpa dwellings adorned with vibrant prayer flags. The landscape gradually transforms from wooded hills to expansive grasslands, presenting magnificent vistas of the majestic Ama Dablam and other towering Himalayan peaks in the backdrop.

Day 07: Deboche/ Pangboche to Dingboche, acclimitisation hike to Nangkartshang peak and back to Dingboche

The trek commences with a gentle incline out of Deboche/Pangboche. Along the way, you'll pass through several delightful mountain hamlets and witness traditional Sherpa dwellings adorned with prayer flags. The terrain gradually transforms from wooded hills to open fields, providing awe-inspiring vistas of the majestic Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and other Himalayan summits in the distance. As part of the acclimatisation process, you'll embark on a hike up to Nangkartshang Peak before descending back down to Dingboche. This quaint settlement sits at an altitude of 4,400 meters, surrounded by stunning snow-capped peaks.

Day 08: Dingboche to Lobuche via Kongma La Pass

The trek starts with a gradual ascent from Dingboche through rocky terrain and reaches Kongma La Pass at 5,535 meters elevation. Although steep, the climb rewards with stunning views of peaks. After crossing the pass, the trail descends to Khumbu Glacier, which leads to a steep ascent to Lobuche at 4,940 meters elevation, offering breathtaking views.

Day 09: Lobuche to EBC to Gorekshep (Option: hike to Kala Patthar for Sunset)

After a gradual ascent from Lobuche, trekkers follow the Khumbu Glacier to Gorak Shep at 5,164 meters. From here, there's an optional steep climb to Kala Pattar at 5,545 meters for breathtaking views of Mount Everest and surrounding peaks during sunset. After descending, the trek continues to Everest Base Camp at 5,364 meters, passing through rocky terrain, the Khumbu Icefall, and the Everest climbing route. From EBC, the trail heads back to Gorak Shep for an overnight stay.

Day 10: Helicopter flight to Kathmandu from Gorekshep

On the last day of the trek, you'll take a helicopter from Gorekshep to Kathmandu, which is a convenient way to return after completing the Everest Base Camp trek. The helicopter ride is a thrilling and scenic journey that offers stunning views of the Himalayan peaks, including Mount Everest. The flight lasts approximately one hour.

This evening, we'll visit an authentic Nepalese restaurant for dinner and some traditional Nepali songs and dance.

Departure

A driver will collect you from your hotel around 3 hours before your departing flight and transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM), ensuring that you arrive there at least 2 hours before your flight departs. Please let us know if you'd like to be collected earlier.

What's included in the costs?

Note that conversely with many other operations, our prices do indeed cover meals in tea houses along the route, and return flights from Kathmandu to Lukla. You will need cash for additional beverages, and tips.

  • Return airport transfers from Kathmandu Airport (KTM) to your hotel in Kathmandu
    • Hotel accommodation in Kathmandu on twin-share, bed and breakfast basis - one night before and one night after the trek
